My Role
Discovery planning, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing & user interviews, marketing design, stakeholder management, developer collaboration
Boomerang is an online platform for semi-retired and retired people to connect through interactive workshops to reignite their sense of purpose. Through Boomerang people have the opportunity to earn money by hosting their own workshops or can simply purchase tickets and join live workshops for whatever piques their interest.
How Boomerang works

Users can browse from hundreds of workshops, filter by time, date, and categories and purchase whichever workshops they desire. All workshops are hosted live and users have the opportunity to meet and connect with like-minded people.
My Highlights at Boomerang
During my time at Boomerang I designed user acquisition flows (from social media ads to landing pages and to user sign up) account creation & sign up flow, workshop landing page with a curated experience for each user, event page, ticket purchase flow, user profiles, account settings, I also frequently designed and tested new features and concepts with users.
My marketing initiatives included designing: Boomerang’s marketing website, email campaigns; event email reminders, weekly workshop highlights, designed instagram templates for stories and posts, provided art direction to the marketing team for marketing assets; landing pages, partnership pitches, guidebooks and handbooks, and ads.

Usability Testing and Card Sorting
Boomerang’s average user is 60 years old, and notoriously not very tech-savvy so it was crucial to work closely with our users.
I regularly hosted user interview sessions, and usability testing to gather feedback from our users and iterate on designs.
When studies were complete I reviewed findings with my team and designed high fidelity screens for the development team.

Rapid Prototyping
Cretaing high fiedlity prototypes is an important part of my process to express complex interactions and ideas to key stakeholders on the team, showing developers expected behaviours and flows, as well as giving users a realistic browsing experience during usability testing.

Concepts
Below are some future state concepts of how we could evolve the product to be a more curated experience for the users. They are designed to have an enhanced browsing experience based on user interests. They also highlight hosts, giving them more visibility on the platform.
